Trouble With The Curve?

THE PITCHER SETS. HE WINDS. HERE’S THE PITCH…

SWING AND A MISS! Struck him out! The batter was not ready for that curveball. He was sitting dead-red and was completely fooled by that pitch.

Does this sound familiar? Has this ever been you? Have you ever been sitting, waiting, and anticipating one thing only to be fooled and thrown a curveball?

Welcome to my real estate blog, Trouble With The Curve! You’re probably wondering what’s up with all the baseball lingo? Isn’t this real estate? How does baseball tie into real estate? Short answer, it does…and it doesn’t. At one point or another, every comes across a real estate need. Those needs happen for a variety of reasons. Those reasons could include buying your first home, selling a home for the first time, taking a swing into real estate investing, death in the family, downsizing, upsizing, divorce and the list goes on.

With that in mind, the purpose of this blog is to educate you in the world of real estate. Often times, we fail to act because we lack confidence. I don’t know about you, but I know I lack confidence when I don’t feel knowledgeable about a certain subject/area. As the saying goes, “knowledge is power”…and your power comes from your confidence. Confidence is the key! Armed with knowledge and information to feed your confidence, you should feel more inspired to take action in the world of real estate. You should feel more prepared when you get thrown that curveball!

For those of you that don’t know me, baseball was my first love. Before my wife, before my kids, before real estate, there was baseball! A boy, a glove and a baseball. What more do you need? What could be more perfect? Baseball afforded me so many opportunities in my lifetime. Baseball kept me out of trouble. Baseball gave me direction. Baseball shaped my mindset. Baseball fed my competitive spirit. Baseball gave me an understanding of what is required to excel at something. Baseball paid for college. Baseball let me travel. Eventually, baseball paid me (although the first check I received wouldn’t even be enough for my car payment today!). And ultimately, baseball let me teach, lead and inspire others.

Now you may ask, of all of those things baseball afforded me, which was my favorite? What one thing gave me the most satisfaction? The answer for me is easy. Baseball afforded me the opportunity to educate, lead and inspire. It no longer became about me, about my career, about my personal victories. This opportunity allowed me to transition my baseball career into teaching, helping others be more knowledgeable and, more importantly, more successful at their craft.
